Caterpillar has more than 40 years of practical experience in remanufacturing, and has become one of the first multinational companies to introduce remanufacturing concepts and experiences into china.
In 2005, Caterpillar established the Caterpillar remanufacturing industry (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the remanufacturing Shanghai factory). After ten years of development, the remanufacturing plant in Shanghai has become one of the most excellent remanufacturing plants in China, providing value-added services to Caterpillar's customers throughout the world in the maintenance, replacement and upgrading of equipment. In 2015, compared with the traditional technology to manufacture new products, the remanufacturing Shanghai factory has achieved remarkable results in comprehensive energy saving, reducing carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by 5866 tons. In October 2015, the remanufacturing Shanghai factory was named as one of the twelve innovative cases of Shanghai transnational corporations in Shanghai because of its promotion of remanufacturing business model in Shanghai.
In May 2016, the Shanghai factory was also awarded the environmental protection award of the China Baosteel environmental prize, which was sponsored by the China Environmental Protection Foundation, for its remarkable environmental benefits in 2015. China Baosteel environmental prize is the highest award in the field of environmental protection in China, and Shanghai remanufacturing ranks first in the award of enterprise environmental protection category.
