Volvo group breaks through innovation to develop city charging Road

Recently, Volvo group announced that it will take the lead in developing the feasibility of urban charging roads, so that the city buses can charge in the process of driving, and promote the development of transportation more environmentally friendly. It has multiple effects in road construction, resource conservation and environmental protection.

The project will be in cooperation with the Swedish traffic authority, and plans to lay a 300 meter to 500 meter test charging road in Goteborg, Sweden, by the end of 2015. Through the R & D of urban charging roads, Volvo group has taken a new step in the development of sustainable transportation solutions.

Volvo group enterprise sustainable development and public affairs executive vice president Nicklas Gustafson? (Niklas Gustavsson) said: "let the vehicle during travel through road charging, Volvo group is committed to reducing the environmental impact of a groundbreaking research project, which we become sustainable transport solutions worldwide leader vision completely consistent. To achieve this goal requires close cooperation between society and industry, Volvo group is also looking forward to developing new areas together with Goteborg."

Charging road system can grid energy transmission for electric buses, which uses wireless technology to continuous charging during travel, without suspended in the charging station. The technology is also called inductive charging, that is, the energy is transmitted wirelessly to the bottom of the vehicle through the equipment in the road.

The Volvo group will formulate detailed proposals in accordance with the Swedish traffic authority's policies, including laying a wireless charging test road and developing road charging buses. The test section will be located in the centre of Goteborg, Sweden, and is expected to be built by the end of 2015 to test the charging bus routes. This test will provide valuable reference value for the future development of the charging road and related policies.

As early as 2008, Volvo group has introduced hybrid buses to the market, equipped with traditional diesel engines and assisted with electric motors to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Currently, three Volvo plug in hybrid buses have been put into operation in Goteborg, Sweden. They are charging at the end of route 60. In the process of driving through the road charging, so as to extend the electric distance, is the next development direction of the bus system. That's what Volvo is working on. In 2015, a new bus line, ElectriCity, will be put into use between Chalmers in Goteborg (Chalmers) and Linde Holm (Lindholmen). The line will provide more practical experience for the development of electric heavy vehicles.

Nicklas? Gusitafusong (Niklas Gustavsson) said: "we are a comprehensive and in-depth research and development of future technology. In the process of developing sustainable transportation solutions to minimize environmental impacts, charging roads are an important issue to be addressed."

Innovation has changed the world, Volvo has long been concerned about independent innovation, leading the progress and development of the construction machinery industry. The research and development of urban charging Road, is the combination of innovation and environmental protection of ideological practice. Although the world is now facing the decline of the industry, the reality of intensified competition, but Volvo group will still adhere to the "new change of the world" concept, in the development of the world and the transformation of the world in the process of progress.
