China will be the second largest producer of shale gas in the world in 2040
Recently, the US Energy Information Bureau predicted that by 2040, the average daily output of shale gas in China will exceed 20 billion cubic feet, becoming the second largest shale gas producer in the US.
According to Xinhua news agency, 16 news, the U.S. energy information administration released data show that over the past five years, China has built a 600 shale gas wells, 2015 average daily production of five hundred million cubic feet. Shale gas production in China will continue to increase in the future. By 2040, the average daily output will exceed 20 billion cubic feet, accounting for over 40% of China's total natural gas production. It will become the second largest shale gas producer in the US.
In the future, the production of shale gas in the United States will continue to increase rapidly. According to the prediction of the US Energy Information Bureau, by 2040, the average daily output of shale gas will increase from 37 billion cubic feet in 2015 to 79 billion cubic feet, accounting for 70% of the total gas output in the United States.
At present, Canada is the second largest producer of shale gas in the world, with an average daily output of 4 billion 100 million cubic feet in 2015. The US energy information bureau predicts that Canada's shale gas production will continue to increase in the future. By 2040, the proportion of total gas production in the country will rise to nearly 30%, but the average daily output will not exceed 10 billion cubic feet.
The US energy information bureau predicts that shale gas will be the main driving force for the increase of global natural gas production. By 2040, the average daily output of shale gas will be 4 times the level of 2015, reaching 168 billion cubic feet. The global natural gas output in the same period will increase to 554 billion cubic feet in the same period, up about 62% compared with 2015.
The US energy information agency also said that only 4 countries in the United States, Canada, China and Argentina are able to carry out commercial shale gas exploitation in the world. With technological progress, more countries will be able to extract shale gas in the future. It is estimated that by 2040, shale gas production in the US, China, Argentina, Canada, Mexico and Algeria will account for 70% of global shale gas production.
