What are the advantages of hydraulic forming technology?      

 

Hydraulic forming technology is a new type of metal forming technology compared with traditional forming technology, such as stamping and welding.

First, advantage

Compared with the traditional stamping process, hydraulic forming process to reduce weight, reduce the number, and the number of mold parts to improve the rigidity and strength, reduce the production cost and has technical and economic advantages in the industrial field, especially in the automotive industry has got more and more applications. In the automotive industry and aviation, aerospace and other fields, to reduce structural quality to save energy in operation is the long-term goal of people, but also one of the trends of the development of advanced manufacturing technology. Hydraulic forming (hydroforming) is an advanced manufacturing technology to realize structural lightweight. Hydroforming is also known as "internal high pressure forming". Its basic principle is to use tubes as billets, to apply ultrahigh pressure liquid in the tube, and to apply axial thrust to both ends of the tube blank to fill the material. Under the combined action of two external forces, the plastic deformation of the tube blank material and finally fit with the inner wall of the mold cavity, and the hollow parts with the shape and accuracy meet the technical requirements are obtained.

Two, advantages

For the hollow variable section structure, the traditional manufacturing process is the first stamping forming 2.5 pieces, and then welded into the whole, and hydraulic forming can be integrally formed along the structural section of the hollow structural parts. Compared with stamping and welding process, hydroforming technology and process have the following main advantages:

Reduce quality and save materials. For automobile engine bracket, radiator bracket and other typical parts, hydraulic forming parts than stamping parts reduce 20% to 40%; for hollow ladder shaft parts, can reduce the weight of 40% to 50%.

Reduce the number of parts and molds, reduce the cost of mold. The hydraulic forming parts usually only need 1 sets of moulds, and the stamping parts mostly need many sets of moulds. The hydraulic engine bracket parts are reduced from 6 to 1, and the radiator bracket parts are reduced from 17 to 10.

Reduce the amount of welding in subsequent mechanical processing and assembly. Taking radiator bracket as an example, the heat dissipation area increases by 43%, the solder joint is reduced from 174 to 20, and the process is reduced from 13 to 6, and the productivity is increased by 66%.

To improve the strength and stiffness, especially the fatigue strength, such as the hydraulic radiator bracket, its stiffness can be increased by 39% in the vertical direction, and the horizontal direction can be increased by 50%.

Reduce production cost. According to the statistical analysis of the applied hydraulic forming parts, the production cost of the hydraulic forming parts is reduced by 15% to 20% compared with the stamping parts, and the cost of the die is reduced by 20% to 30%.
