Caterpillar "breakthrough hybrid propeller" boost the development of marine transportation
Caterpillar Singapore Ship project the Centre launched a concept called "breakthrough hybrid propulsion". This concept helps Yu Hai operators to save fuel and reduce costs.
According to the introduction, Caterpillar ship business department will deliver the first Carter marine hybrid propulsion system to a Singapore shipyard this year, and debug it. This new propulsion system has better performance than the diesel mechanical system, and can significantly improve fuel efficiency. Especially for those ships that are in standby standby or providing dynamic positioning services, it can save up to 35% fuel a year.
Usually, the new propulsion system can be used to reduce the size of the marine main engine, optimize the engine load, and switch to the diesel electric mode for dynamic positioning operation or standby operation. Caterpillar's ship service said the system could be used both to restructure and to be used for new shipbuilding.
