Eaton and Nissan signed a memorandum of understanding to develop energy storage and control systems
Nissan, the world's leading power management company, Eaton and leading automotive manufacturer, has announced a cooperation agreement recently. We will explore the feasibility of promoting the development, industrialization and commercialization of energy storage and control system by using both professional experience and industrial assets.
Today, the global development is facing many problems to be solved, including the developed economies, "decarbonization" in ensuring the stability of the power grid under intermittent renewable energy into the grid, as well as in limiting carbon dioxide emissions under the help of developing countries to achieve economic growth and energy.
In a series of measures to mitigate climate change, it is essential that clean energy is widely used in all regions of the world in a more economic way. To achieve this goal, we need to integrate power electronics and control software, renewable energy and static storage into a single set of systems that can be applied to multiple environments.
To this end, Nissan and Eaton will use this landmark cooperation to make use of their multi-year experience in battery manufacturing and more than 50 years of experience in the field of power electronics, as well as the tested technologies that both sides are facing to meet this challenge.
Robert Lujan, the director of Nissan's global electric vehicle, said: "the life of the battery as a power device is far higher than the life of the car. For years, we have been producing batteries for our electric cars in the leading manufacturing plant of Nissan. This cooperation plan will enable us to improve the service life of Nissan's existing 24 kwh products, thereby reducing the use of more resources on the planet to produce new batteries.
Cyrille Brisson, vice president of marketing in Eaton, Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: "the innovation system of Eaton and Nissan will really promote the wider adoption and deployment of renewable power, so that people can better control the supply and consumption of energy. The device has many advantages, including achieving continuous power supply, improving the stability and efficiency of the power grid, avoiding the peak tariff of energy, and reducing dependence on diesel and other expensive fuels in the absence of grid or grid instability.
He added: "over 3 billion people in the world still use the dirty environment, inefficient cooking and lighting methods and expensive, unhealthy heating methods, and 1 billion 200 million people have not yet been able to use electric resources. By providing these people with more clean and economic energy, there will be great changes. "
Nissan Automobile Co., Ltd., the second largest automobile company in Japan, is a member of the Renault Nissan Alliance, in Yokohama, Japan. Nissan has more than 247 thousand and 500 employees worldwide and 5 million 320 thousand cars in fiscal year 2014, with sales of 11 trillion and 380 billion yen ($103 billion 600 million). Nissan owns more than 60 models, including Nissan, Infiniti and Datson. Nissan is a global leader in zero emission traffic, mainly thanks to the strong sales of Nissan. As the first pure electric vehicle for mass market, Nissan is the best selling electric vehicle in history, accounting for nearly 50% of the market share of zero emission vehicle.
Eaton is one of the world's leading power management companies, with sales of $20 billion 900 million in 2015. Eaton is committed to providing various energy-efficient solutions to help customers manage electricity, fluid power and mechanical power more effectively, safely and continuously. Eaton has about 97 thousand employees around the world and sells more than 175 countries and regions.
