It is reported that since 2005 in Shanghai, after ten years of development, Caterpillar re manufacturing factory in Shanghai has become the most outstanding one of the Caterpillar factory, to provide more value-added services in the Asia Pacific and global clients as well as the economic and environmental benefits are positively significant, highlighting the Caterpillar practice of promoting sustainable development commitments.

Caterpillar, as the world's largest manufacturer of construction machinery, mining equipment, energy and power systems, has a history of more than 40 years in the remanufacturing field. Caterpillar remanufacturing industry (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is the first foreign wholly owned company to get remanufacturing license in China, and it was approved by the Ministry of industry and Commerce in 2009 December as a pilot enterprise for remanufacturing.

Remanufacturing is the promoter of the circular economy, which can regenerate the resources and cycle the product lifecycle. Remanufacturing is a key link in Caterpillar's global business model to ensure that customers have the lowest cost of purchase and use within the life cycle of the product.
