Landmines are a relatively hidden and dangerous weapon. For the Southeast Asian people living in minefields, such as Kampuchea and Laos, these "War legacy" bring fear and pain to the local civilians. So it's necessary to demining.

  According to the International Red Cross, nearly 120 million landmines in the world have been buried in 64 countries, most of them in Southeast Asia. In the case of Kampuchea, Cambodia and Vietnam during the war, the two sides in this piece of land is planted nearly 6 million kinds of mines, the formation of the world rare high density, difficult to identify mixed minefield.

To this end, many non-governmental organizations have actively carried out mine clearance work in Southeast Asia, including the "JMAS".

In 2008, Komatsu group partnered with JMAS to jointly carry out demining activities, to help the local people as early as the end of mine and dud life under the shadow of fear.

Komatsu group has developed a minesweeper bulldozer based on the "Minesweeper". Compared with the manual way, the mine can effectively reduce the risk and improve the efficiency of mine clearance. By 2015, the "Minesweeper" of Komatsu group has worked for 26000 hours, and has cleared 1218 hectares of land, making contributions to the local people living in the minefields.

In August 2016, Komatsu decided to expand its cooperation with JMAS to Laos. Unlike the landmine threat faced by the Kampuchea minefields, the threat of the Laos region is mainly from the remnant of the remnant bombs that remain during the Vietnam War.

To cope with this situation in Laos, Komatsu has specially developed a mine clearance equipment based on the hydraulic excavator (PC130-8).

The demining equipment is equipped with a special shovel, which can be pinched and destroyed by a cluster of bombs mixed in the soil. With its help, not only the safety of mine clearance activities has been greatly improved, but also the efficiency has been improved.
