Use protection of concrete in hot climate
When the temperature of the concrete rises, the water consumption of the concrete should be increased in order to maintain the slump required for the pouring operation. At the same time, with the increase of temperature, the slump loss rate of concrete mixture increases, so that sometimes concrete is added to the concrete mixture when the concrete is transported to the construction site from the mixing station. These two conditions increase the water consumption of concrete, which leads to the increase of shrinkage and the decrease of strength.
The transportation of concrete will become more difficult because of high temperature setting. When the humidity is low or the wind speed is high, the loss of water is greater. If the concrete needs air entraining, the high temperature will make the gas content more difficult to control. As the temperature is high, the gas content will be reduced, so the dosage of the air entraining agent should be increased.
Even if the amount of cement is added to compensate for the increase of water consumption, the quality of hardened concrete may still be adversely affected. The early strength of concrete cured at higher temperature increased rapidly, but the possible strength of 28d could be reduced accordingly.
In order to improve the quality of concrete pouring in the hot climate, a detailed construction plan is made and the implementation is guaranteed. By carefully selecting the raw materials and construction methods for preparing concrete, some adverse effects can also be reduced. In addition, in the construction of concrete, measures should be taken to improve the quality of the construction in the summer.
