Infineon improves truck safety and operational efficiency, intelligent control
The radar system for trucks and engineering vehicles in improving road transport safety plays an important role, because they can monitor the blind spot, issued a warning to the driver in the vehicle too close to other vehicles, can automatically start the braking procedure in case of emergency. Radar systems also allow vehicles to travel closer to each other, even at night, in a strong sun, in heavy rain, dense fog or heavy snow. These active safety systems can avoid turning a truck into a cyclist or pedestrian. Can driver assistance system chip to improve engineering and logistics industry production efficiency based on trucks and engineering vehicles can arrive at their destination faster, more able to quickly mobilize, but also the best way to unload the goods.
Held in Munich in 2016 the German international engineering machinery exhibition (Bauma 2016), Infineon exhibited designed for new 24GHz radar modernization driving assistance system based on radar and the development of trucks and engineering vehicles in solution. It is a highly integrated system, including the 24GHz radar chip (BGT24ATR12), the corresponding AURIX microcontroller (TC264DA) designed for radar applications, and the appropriate power supply (TLF35584).
Thanks to Infineon's semiconductor solutions, radar based driver assistance systems are becoming smaller and cheaper. By 2020, the number of installed this kind of system will be increased significantly, when they are used not only for about 3 million 600 thousand new trucks, but also are widely used for buses, agricultural vehicles, engineering and mining machinery and vehicles.
Chip for safety and precision driving assistance system
Infineon radar chip can transmit and receive 24GHz signals and transmit them to the AURIX MCU in the radar ECU, so that further processing can be carried out. AURIX ensures fast and reliable processing of radar chips collecting and transmitting information from the vehicle to the driver assistance system.
Because AURIX is very efficient and can replace other chips that are needed, the 24GHz radar system will become smaller, more compact and cheaper. The chips that can be replaced include digital signal processor, memory chip and analog signal that can convert radar chip into analog to digital converter which can be processed by mcu. All members of the AURIX family have high data processing speed, so they have excellent real-time performance. They are the best single chip computers available on the market.
Infineon exhibition Bauma
At the 2016 German international construction machinery exhibition in Munich (April 2016 11-17), Infineon will present a 24-Hz development kit for truck and engineering vehicle driving assistance systems. The toolkit can also be used to test newly developed systems.
