Liebherr's latest diesel engine and gas engine
Nussbaumen (Switzerland), in April 2016, at the 2016 Munich Bauma exhibition, Liebherr presented to the public two new V diesel engines D96XX and D98XX series.
A new type of G946 lambda 1 mobile gas engine is also on display. This gas engine is specially developed for agriculture and forestry applications, but also suitable for all types of construction, industry and transportation. Another innovative product is the selective catalytic reduction technology SCR, which can be used in D93X, D94X and D95XX series engines.
With the advent of D96XX and D98XX engines, the maximum output power range of Liebherr diesel engine can cover 700 to 4500kW. The largest D96 series is a 20 cylinder V engine with a power of 1500kW at the speed of 1900rpm.
The cylinder is arranged in 108 degree angle, and the ignition sequence is damped to the minimum. Another advantage of this product range is the slight vibration of its work. Liebherr's new diesel engine meets the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency EPA Tier 4 emission standards, and equipped with SCR exhaust aftertreatment system.
The system is developed independently by Liebherr, like the new high-pressure common rail fuel injection system 11.2, which makes the fuel injection pressure reach 2200 bar. Based on the diesel engine D9620, Liebherr developed a gas engine for fixed equipment, with a power output of 1070 kW, and is expected to be put into production by the end of 2017.
The output power of D98 series engine can reach 43.5 kW per liter, and it has the highest power density in the corresponding market. All the main components, such as injectors, high pressure fuel injection pumps and intelligent control units, have the characteristics of high efficiency and low fuel consumption.
The D98 series has three types of cylinder alignment: the earliest is the V12 model, and V16 and V20 will soon be available. All the components on these series of engines ensure the stable and excellent performance of the engine. Standardized design reduces the diversity of fittings as much as possible, while satisfying flexibility. D98 and D96 systems not only meet the standard emission requirements, benefit from the SCR system, but also meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency EPA Tier 4 emission standards. At the end of 2016, the new engine series will be opened in French Colmar and Swiss Bulle factory, and field test has been successfully completed.
